It is with great pride that SK+I Architecture announces that Sami Kirkdil, Founder and President, has been elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows (AIA). The 2017 Jury of Fellows elevated 178 AIA members from around the country to its prestigious College of Fellows. Out of a total AIA membership of 90,000, approximately three percent of members are recognized as Fellows. As a fellow, Sami joins SK+I Executive Vice President, Meral Iskir, who was elevated in 2016.
The fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Election to fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of architects as individuals, but also their significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.
“I was honored to sponsor Sami as a candidate for AIA College of Fellows,” said Matthew Bell, FAIA, Principal at Perkins Eastman, “Sami has undoubtedly elevated the profession and his work transforms places, provides stylish and diverse residential choices for a changing demographic and always leaves a building, neighborhood, or existing context profoundly impacted for the better.”
