SK+I takes deep pride in working closely with its clients, understanding their needs, and ideally translating these into project goals that will result in a successful project which enhances the community as a whole. SK+I leadership has established a studio that reinterprets ways of working and living in the built environment. Our studio works as a creative team, with each member of the firm bringing a unique set of experiences, talents, and passions to the design process. Additionally, we value consultants and jurisdictional officials as key team members and involve them in all aspects of the design and building process. SK+I architects establish and maintain excellent working relationships with consultants and officials by creating in a collaborative environment based on mutual respect. Throughout the process we believe in bringing the team together to ensure each project is one the entire team takes pride in and that it enhances the surrounding neighborhood and built environment.
SK+I created an extensive technology infrastructure to support and enhance our vision of design and the performance of our studio. We use technology as a tool to enhance project communication and coordination among our professional staff, our clients, suppliers, contractors, consultants and regulatory agencies. Throughout our history, SK+I has developed a number of processes and systems to identify and track information which needs to be communicated amongst project participants. Our team utilizes standard software compatible with that used by our clients to simplify the use and manipulation of the information.
SK+I uses a variety of advanced software to make design and documentation clear and effective during every phase of the project. We utilize a variety of CAD and Internet capabilities and standard 3D tools which enable drawings to be transformed directly into design development and construction drawings. We use 3D computer modeling and renderings to provide excellent visualization, including fly-through animations and 3D printing. Additionally, SK+I uses BIM software to design and deliver projects that effectively and efficiently meet our client’ s goals.
SK+I uses BIM technology to streamline our process and enhance building performance. SK+I is aggressively investing in BIM training to ensure our team is at the front of advancing industry technology.
SK+I’s commitment to sustainability is a core value of our firm. Assisting our clients in reaching their Green Building goals is an integral aspect of our design practice. For well over a decade, our LEED APs have been providing Green Building consulting services.
Utilizing new tools of the trade that inform our designs provides new opportunities to optimize the performance of our buildings. Integrating our Building Information Models early in the design process with Energy Models provides new insights into the performance characteristics of our buildings, allowing us to recognize minor adjustments that can create cumulative major impacts. Our techniques have evolved with technology to optimize value for our clients. SK+I has long been committed to design that produces efficient buildings for use over the long term. Incorporating green building design practices during a project’s conceptual design phase and working with integrated design teams throughout the design process allows SK+I to ensure accomplishment of Green Building goals.
